Little Needed in Home Fitness Exercise Equipment

Although many people think that they need to buy expensive exercise equipment like home fitness gyms, there is really very little home fitness exercise equipment required to get a full body workout, including cardiovascular workouts. Although people can spend thousands of dollars to create a home fitness exercise equipment filled gym, they could really spend nothing and still have a quality, full body workout. By spending as little as fifty dollars, they can even give themselves more choices in their workouts, such as buying DVDs, jump ropes and dumbbells.

Types of Equipment

For cardiovascular strength, there are certain types of home fitness exercise equipment that are seen most often in homes (often collecting dust and holding plants or pets!) Treadmills are the most common and can run from three hundred to over a thousand, sometimes thousands of dollars, depending on the type of cushion to the legs they provide and the various settings, such as speed and incline. Elliptical machines are also more common now, having been found to be easier on the knees and legs in general than treadmills. In addition, biking and rowing machines are also popular cardio vascular home fitness exercise equipment.

While these types of home fitness exercise equipment do come in handy and provide great workouts when they are used, the same amount of cardio vascular exercise can be obtained with little to no cost. Brisk walking or jogging provides a better workout than can be obtained on a treadmill or elliptical machine since the legs are actually propelling the body forward. In addition, a simple jump rope or exercise video can be obtained for under twenty dollars providing other options for cardio activity, not to mention rowing a boat or biking out in the real world rather than in a room if the opportunity allows.

Home fitness exercise equipment that helps to develop muscle strength can be found in home gyms that can cost a few hundred dollars to thousands also, depending on the type and the number of features that it comes with. These home fitness gyms, like the cardio equipment, require a substantial amount of space, not to mention making sure that the flooring in the room can handle the extra weight and bouncing that will be put on it due to the exercise. More simple equipment that can be bought to expand beyond pushups, dips and other activities that require no home fitness exercise equipment at all are dumbbells, which can be found relatively inexpensively, especially in the lower weights.
